Connetquot on a two match win streak

Posted Wednesday, April 07, 2010 by Coach Cavanagh

The Connetquot T-Birds traveled to West Islip on Tuesday and emerged with a huge league victory. The T-Birds used strong singles play from all four spots and collected four very important victories. The pivotal moment came when Brendan Harris battled through his opponent Steve Wunder 6-4, 7-5 to clinch the match for Connetquot. The match was a give and take battle that saw Harris mix up his play from baseline to attack and volley to keep his opponent guessing throughout the match.

As amazing as it was to have the four seniors claim all the singles spots for Connetquot it was even more compelling to watch Connetquot's young freshman Andrew Realmuto and Chris Kash claim third doubles 7-5, 6-3. The young men rallied from a 4-5 deficit in the first set and managed to win the next 3 games to claim the set. They quickly won 3 out of the next four games to take a 3-1 lead in the second set. This proved to be a lead that they would not surrender.

After dropping the first three matches of the year, the T-Birds have pulled off two consecutive wins and will look to continue the streak on Thursday against Islip.
